Collins calling: 'I could be in the Premiership in two years'

"I love football management, I feel comfortable in it - I could walk in to Liverpool tomorrow and take over, no problem. That's how confident I am.

"I want to manage a Premiership club before the next five years is up, before I'm 45, and Ireland before I'm 50."

"Bohs offered me brilliant money, a lot more than I'm on here. I could have walked up and down Dublin, into Lillies, into Reynards, drinking champagne but that's not me, I don't want that, I just want to prove to myself that I can go one step further."

"This is the best job for me because no one expects anything.

"My job is to keep Carlisle in the league this year, that's what I've been asked to do, anything above that is a bonus. So if I get in to the top six, in to the play-offs, win promotion, that's a microwave job for me - I could be in the Premiership in two years. "

"Other managers' perception of me is that this is a fella from a pub league in Ireland..he won't win many games over here.

"They don't mind Roddy Collins now because we're down in the bottom four but as soon as we're in the top six they won't like it, it'll really stick in their gut. That's something to look forward to."

Any regrets about run-ins he had in Ireland?

"No, it was all necessary, necessary evil. If you want to get to the top you have to be forceful and strong, anything I said was from the heart, maybe a little impetuous at times but that's me. I never want to offend or hurt anyone's feelings, I wouldn't want to do that in a million years, but anything I ever said was the truth as I perceived it.
