In an unfortunate incident, Clontarf's Ronan O'Reilly and Donovan Rossi were left motionless on the turf 20 metres apart, at the same time, during the Leinster Senior Cup semi-final at Castle Avenue on Saturday. There was a 45-minute delay while two ambulances removed the players to the Mater Hospital. Thankfully, neither man suffered serious damage.
At that stage Clontarf led 7-3 through Andy Wood's drive over after eight minutes, converted by Jimmy Dempsey which overturned Lansdowne's sixth-minute Alan McGowan penalty.
When the game got under way again, Gabriel Fulcher powered over for a try that gave Lansdowne an 8-7 lead at the break. Clontarf had been the more productive side in the first half and it was only a matter of time before they made it pay. McGowan's 47th-minute penalty made it 11-7 to Lansdowne, but that was to be their last score.
Left-wing Ollie Winchester, full-back Dave O'Brien, replacement-wing Dara Higgins and second-row Dave Moore all weighed in with tries in a comprehensive win for the home side.
