Kehoe Cup/ Carlow 2-18 Roscommon 1-7: Wexford referee Séamus Whelan flashed six yellow cards, thus sending six players to the line during the second half of this Kehoe Cup senior hurling tie at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, yesterday.

Three players from each side saw yellow and the situation was complicated by the fact that two players, one from each side, replaced colleagues before they themselves were yellow carded.

Carlow led by 1-8 to 1-3 at half-time as Roscommon relied heavily on free taker Daragh Mulvey. The Pearse's club man scored 1-6 of his side's total. In the first half he scored a Roscommon goal from close-range free and added a magnificent two-pointer from a sideline cut from 45 yards.

In the second half the superior fitness of Carlow started to show. They scored a number of unanswered points which were supplemented by a goal from substitute John Miley.
