South Africa sent out a chilling warning to the four home unions as they opened their tour of Britain and Ireland with a 10-try destruction of hapless Glasgow Caledonians at Firhill last night.

The Springbok second-string, with none of the players expected to start against Wales at Wembley on Saturday, were barely out of second gear as they raced into a 26-9 interval lead.
