It's a touch ironic that some of those licking their wounds since suffering a mauling at Royal Birkdale are among the favourites for this week's Dutch Open at Hilversumsche.

Darren Clarke, Bernhard Langer and Phil Mickelson all missed the cut at the British Open, yet they are in the hot half-dozen to do the business in Holland. Lee Westwood, who also proved he was human on the west Lancashire links, is installed as 10 to 1 joint-favourite with Nick Price to win the title. Sven Struver, the defending champion, is a 40 to 1 shot.

One bad round, on Saturday, effectively ruined Price's bid for the British Open and he is showing signs of a return to his best and he could justify favouritism. However, the best betting value could come in each-way wagers with Raymond Russell, now over the illness that marred much of his season, very keenly priced at 40 to 1, while Aussie Greg Chalmers at 50 to 1 is also worth consideration.

10-1 - Lee Westwood (Eng), Nick Price (Zim).
