Besiktas are confident of wrapping up the capture of Manchester United midfielder Kleberson this week.
The Turks have been striving to secure the services of the midfielder for much of the summer, but their bid appeared to founder earlier in the month when United rejected an offer for the Brazilian.
However, an improved offer seems to have persuaded the Old Trafford club to part company with the World Cup winner and Besiktas appear confident of persuading Kleberson to make the move to Turkey, having won over the player's wife.
The fee is expected to be in the region of £1.8 million and, after the routine medical, the player is to officially sign for his new club today.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he is a Jermaine Jenas admirer - but claimed Newcastle's price for the England midfielder is "crazy".
Jenas has told the Magpies he wants a transfer and Newcastle have valued the player at between £15 million and £20 million.
Wenger is keeping tabs on the Jenas situation but has not decided whether to bring in any more players before the transfer window closes.
He said: "I like Jenas but I'm not intent on any player at the moment. When I listened to the statement of (Graeme) Souness two or three weeks ago it was quite discouraging. He spoke in the region of £20 million - in which case we live in a crazy world and we are not interested at that price."
Rumours increased over Jenas's future when the England international was left out of Newcastle's Intertoto Cup semi-final second leg against Deportivo La Coruna last Wednesday night. There were suggestions Souness and the player had been involved in a bust-up over a suggestion that Jenas provide cover at full-back if Stephen Carr failed to pass a late fitness test.
But Souness scotched such speculation, insisting, "JJ has not had a problem with me or any of the staff as far as I am aware."
Kieron Dyer has confirmed he will sign a new four-year deal at Newcastle next week and admitted the problems he suffered last season were "the kick up the backside" he needed to save his career on Tyneside.
The 26-year-old is expected to sign ahead of next weekend's Premiership opener against Arsenal. "I've spoken to the chairman (Freddy Shepherd) and my agent and it should be some time this week," he said.
Alan Shearer has admitted Newcastle want to sign Michael Owen but believes there is strong competition to sign the Real Madrid striker.
"I know our manager Graeme Souness would love him here and he'd be a great asset - but he will have a few options."
Newcastle's prospects of landing Owen will be hindered by the fact they are not in Europe after the Deportivo defeat.
