WATERFORD SHC SEMI-FINAL/Ballygunner 2-10 De La Salle 0-11:MUNSTER CLUB champions De La Salle are out of the Waterford championship after they were beaten by five points by their bitter rivals in a tempestuous semi-final in Walsh Park yesterday.
De La Salle lost wing forward Páidi Nevin to a red card after an early melee, but, with Dean Twomey dominating at midfield, they opened up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after 20 minutes. However Ballygunner led at the break, thanks to a late goal from David O’Sullivan.
JJ Hutchinson’s goal seconds into the second half extended Ballygunner’s lead but three points by the superb Twomey kept the champions in touch. Ballygunner substitute, Andy Moloney, won two crucial frees and scored a late point to help his team to victory.
