INTER MILAN piled on the agony for AC Milan last night, following up Juventus' 6-1 demolition of the Italian champions with a 3-1 hiding in the derby.
Frenchman Youri Djorkaeff was Inter's hero, opening the scoring with a 32nd minute penalty and then supplying an inch-perfect corner for Chilean Ivan Zamorano to head in the second 10 minutes later.
Djorkaeff also started Inter's third, which ended with a 57th minute header from Maurizio Ganz, while Roberto Baggio - Milan's best player - salvaged their pride with a consolation goal at the end.
The match twice had to be suspended as red flares showered down from the angry AC Milan fans, once after Ganz's goal and once shortly after a glaring miss by Milan striker George Weah, and at other times play simply continued as flares burned away in the penalty area.
However, the celebrations were all for the Inter fans among the 70,000 crowd, while Inter coach Roy Hodgson heaped praise on his men.
