English: Jim Lusby
Jim has been teaching at The Institute of Education for 11 years. He is a novelist, short story writer and playwright. He is a former winner of a Hennessy Literary Award for his short stories and his novels including Making the Cut (adapted by RTE as a televisions series) and most recently, Serial. He is also the author of Success: How to Succeed in the Leaving Certificate English paper 1, published by Gill & Macmillan.
English: Cian Hogan
Cian has taught English and French at The Institute of Education since 2001. He is the author of Poems, a new anthology of Leaving Certificate poetry, Rapid Revision French, a Ten Week Guide to preparing for the Leaving Certificate, Accent Français, a new approach to the Leaving Certificate oral and aural exams and most recently; Hamlet an ebook written for iPad.
English: Paul McCormack
Paul McCormack has been teaching English and History since 1997. He is the co-author of a Junior Cert history book and has contributed to the Folens Leaving Cert Shakespeare series.
English: Martin Kelly
Martin has been teaching Leaving Cert Higher Level English for over thirty years and has been an examiner at that level for much of that time. He has taught at The Institute of Education for twenty years.
English: Denis Creaven
Denis has been an English teacher at The Institute of Education for over 30 years and has instilled a love of the English language in generations of students.
Irish: Clare Grealy
Clare has over 20 years experience of teaching Irish to Higher level Leaving Cert students and has been teaching full time at The Institute of Education for the past 13 years. She has been a regular contributor and advisor to RTE 2 radio programmes in the lead up to the Leaving Cert exams.
Irish: Diarmaid O’Tuama
Diarmaid has taught Irish at The Institute of Education since 1974. He is the author of more than 30 school books, as well as of Trátaí Úra a collection of short stories. He spends his summers in Gaoth Dobhair, where he works as Príomhoide in Coláiste Cholmcille, a popular Coláiste Samhraidh. He is currently editor of several Gael Linn publications.
French: Corinne Gavenda
Corrine has been teaching at The Institute of Education for 30 years. She is a native French speaker and conducts her classes through French. She is former editor of the French magazine and tapes Authentik, and worked in close collaboration with France Inter to compile material suitable for language classes. Corinne worked with the Department of Education giving in-service training to schools around the country when Oral French was originally introduced onto the syllabus of the Leaving Certificate.
German: Orla Ní Shúilleabháin
Oral has been teaching at The Institute of Educating for 27 years and has taught in a number of schools in the Greater Dublin area. She has contributed to a number of exam programmes in the media, namely RTE radio’s post-exam analysis and Drive Time. Orla has worked as editorial consultant on a number of German text books, including Klassel and Klasse2.
Spanish: Agueda Keegan
Agueda has taught Leaving Cert Spanish in the Institute of Education since 1986. She graduated from the University of Salamanca, with an honours degree in Educational Science. In 1981 Agueda was retained by the Spanish Department in Trinity College Dublin to prepare Leaving Cert Spanish teachers for the introduction of the Oral element of the Spanish exam. Agueda was responsible for the Leaving Certificate Exam practice articles published by Authentik (1999-2001).
