Electric cars have never been more popular. They now account for 26 per cent of the Irish car share market, ahead of regular petrol hybrids at 24.6 per cent, petrol cars at 20.4 per cent, plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) at 14.5 per cent and diesel cars at 12.5 per cent. With this in mind, you could say the timing of the fourth edition of the Nevo Electric Vehicle show at the RDS, Simmonscourt, on November 7 and 8, has never been better. “The momentum behind electric vehicles in Ireland has never been stronger and the Nevo EV Show 2026 will reflect just how far the industry has come,” says Nevo managing director, Simon Andreuceutti. “This year’s event is significantly bigger in every respect, with more vehicles, more brands, more live experiences and more opportunities for consumers to learn about electric mobility.”

Nevo is Ireland’s home of electric motoring, with a single mission to make electric simple and exciting for everyday drivers. Nevo.ie provide EV reviews, easy-to-follow buying guides, and every choice of electric car all in one place. Now in the fourth year, Nevo have replicated everything they do online into a physical event, which is now Ireland’s largest motor show in the calendar.

Sponsored by Bank of Ireland, the Nevo EV show 2026 is not just for those with a knowledge of electric vehicles but also for the EV curious. In fact, you can go along knowing nothing about electric motoring and walk away with a wealth of information.

Susan Russell, CEO, Retail Ireland, Bank of Ireland: “We are proud to sponsor the Nevo EV Show for the third year running. As our partnership with Nevo continues to grow, it reinforces our commitment to making sustainable transport more accessible and supporting the transition to a lower carbon future for communities across Ireland.

This year’s Nevo EV Show promises to showcase the best in class of electric vehicles and will act as a showcase to demonstrate the sentiment towards the EV sector.

In line with demand for electric vehicles, our recently launched Electric Vehicle Marketplace, in partnership with Nevo, is building on that momentum, giving customers the tools, knowledge and financial support to make the switch with confidence”

The event will showcase 140 electric vehicles, all of which are plug-in models, from over 40 of the world’s leading automotive brands. “It’s the only venue where you can see every type of EV on the market and the only motor show focusing solely on EVs to ever take place in Europe,” adds Andreuceutti. This year, the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Leapmotor is joining as the official vehicle launch partner and will be debuting several EVS that have never been seen here before. “There’s now an EV to suit everyone, whether you’re looking for a family car; a small city car; an SUV; or a luxury car,” he says.

What’s more, electric vehicles have come down in price in recent years. “According to research Nevo carried out this year, the top selling EV is actually €2,500 cheaper than the average equivalent in a same size petrol or diesel vehicle,” says Andreuceutti. “The mid €25, 000 mark is one of the fastest growing segments in the EV space, however you can buy an electric car for a little as €18,000.” Commercial use of EVs is also growing and there will be a wide selection of EV commercial vans at the Nevo event too.

At the ESB Live Demo Area, 14 brand-new electric vehicles models will be showcased across the two-day event. Hosted by Derek Reilly, EV expert with Nevo, there will be demonstrations, providing information about the latest innovations and emerging technologies in electric motoring. You can also try out an electric vehicle for yourself, by signing up in advance at the new myenergi Driving Experience which has a range of electric cars to be test-driven over the weekend. “We’ve mapped out a specific 20-minute route in Ballsbridge and participants will drive the car with a representative from the brand.”

Buyers can claim a Sustainable Energy of Ireland (SEAI) grant of up to €3,500 on new battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plus €300 towards a home charger and the SEAI will be at the show providing information on this. For those with questions about electric vehicles, a new section called ‘Nevo x Bank of Ireland Meet the Experts Lounge’ will have brand experts and representatives from Bank of Ireland and leading Automotive brands to answer them. It will feature a panel where visitors can put questions to experts and find out about available finance packages for EVs, as well as interactive audience discussions and panel debates, covering a range of topics including home and public-charging, battery technology, running costs and how to choose the right electric vehicle.

The benefits of driving an EV will also be explained. Obviously they’re better for the environment because they don’t produce tail pipe emission and use energy more efficiently then petrol or diesel cars. Electric vehicles also need less servicing than a standard car. “With an EV, there are no spark plugs; there’s no timing belt; and there are hundreds of fewer parts which would typically need to be replaced or repaired in a petrol or a diesel vehicle.”

The event aims to do away with common misconceptions about electric vehicles, for example the belief that the battery of an electric car needs to be replaced after just a few years. “It’s like saying that if you drive too many miles in a petrol or a diesel vehicle, you’ll have to replace the engine. In fact, it will cost no more than a regular car,” he says. There’s also a belief that the cost of charging is prohibitive. “The only situation that could be pricey is when you’re doing fast-charging which is not for a daily commute,” says Andreuceutti. “It’s only for occasions when you’re out and about and in need of power.”In such cases, you don’t need to charge the vehicle to 100 per cent. “The technology in the car will tell you by what percentage charge you need according to your driving behaviour. You might only need 20 to 30 per cent for example, and it’s still considerably cheaper than traditional fuel,” he adds. There are ways in fact to keep the cost of charging down. For example, electric vehicles can be charged at home with the use of solar panels. “There are owners who are actually paying zero expenses to run their EV because they’re using smart energy,” he says. “Or by signing up to one of the apps you get an automatic discount.”

Nevo is a free event which attracts women as much as men. “People used to go to motor shows because they wanted to know about horse power and the size engines etc. but it’s not about that anymore,” he says. “We expect men, women, couples, families with young children, and business owners. This is a car show that speaks to everyone and it’s one everyone will enjoy.”

Since launching on 15th August, more than 19,000 tickets have been registered for the two-day event at the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin on 7th and 8th November. Register for your free ticket today at www.nevo.ie
