Madam, - Mary Hannigan wrote last Saturday (Weekend Review) about the loss of innocence in Irish sport, referring to the booing of Roy Keane a few years ago at Lansdowne Road and the similar treatment given to Mick McCarthy last week.

This behaviour is not only to be found at soccer games. The best Gaelic football forward in the country this year, Colin Corkery, was booed by Kerry fans each time he came near the ball during the All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park. At the same match, Cork fans booed correct decisions by the referee.

We can only say that booing has happened, is happening and will happen in the future and is truly the behaviour of the ignorant. - Yours, etc.,
