Sir, - Alan Titley (Tuarascáil, July 4th) writes eloquently, as usual, on cultural globalisation and the influence of American cinema. With the resources available to us today, it should be possible to view major works of world cinema in Irish-language subtitles. I am surprised that TG4 has not taken the initiative.
Are there enough readers of Irish to justify such an enterprise? The electronic journal, Beo, claims to have 14,000 readers. That's enough, for a start. - Yours, etc.,
