Stefan Zweig: some confusion, surely?

Sir, – Frank McNally (An Irishman’s Diary, July 22nd) deserves the same fate as St Colman for referring to Stefan Zweig as “a once famous, now largely forgotten, Austrian writer”.

Forgotten by Mr McNally perhaps but the rest of the world will be a little bemused by this odd assertion.

Perhaps . . . all that climbing . . . altitude sickness? – Yours, etc,

IAN THOMPSON,

Lélex, France.
