Sir, - After 20 years of exhausting work restoring the Royal Canal to its former glory by the Royal Canal Amenity Group, FAS and numerous Government agencies, the canal is now navigable from Dublin to the Shannon.
The banks and water are home to bird and marine life long extinct in other areas of the country due to pollution.
It was with disbelief that I read in the newspapers that the Minister for the Environment, Noel Dempsey, is in favour of siting the proposed toxic waste incinerator only metres from the Royal Canal showpiece - Kilcock. -Yours, etc., Brian Lube,
