Madam, - Andrew Jones (June 22nd) says he voted Yes in the referendum because there is no such thing as a happy multicultural society. He also claims that immigration has already begun to have a "pernicious effect on our small island".

It's funny how Mr Jones and his kind never seemed to worry about the "pernicious effect" mass Irish immigration may have had on host societies in Britain and the United States.

And if the monocultural Ireland of old was so idyllic, why did so many leave? - Yours, etc.,
