Sir, - To my regret, I notice that with the introduction of new Bus Eireann buses in Galway City, all of the notices in the Irish language have disappeared.
To me, the bilingual notices were a brilliant way of passively learning some of the language and getting a free reminder of what I had learnt. Why don't the Irish flaunt their language, like Basques and Catalans do?
Gaelic notices and names on public buildings, road signs and signs on public vehicles would certainly bring home to travellers the Gaelic nature not alone of Galway but of all of Ireland. - Is mise,
