Sir, - In response to Enda Murphy's letter of October 18th regarding rural headlamp habits, I would ask that an addition be made to the Cities Edition of Murphy's Law's Handbook For Drivers.

It should state: "Any driver from a major town who is presently driving on small back roads in Wicklow, or any other county, will move to the left hand side of the road upon approach of a bend or other visual obstruction, proceed with caution, and not return to the centre of the road until such time as full forward visibility has been restored. Owners of German, or other luxury cars are not exempted from this rule."

A recent visit home highlighted the need for the urgent introduction of this rule, due to the inability of Dublin registered vehicles to keep to their side of the road on the Glencullen Enniskerry road. - Yours, etc, Edinburgh.
