Sir, - We agree with the current trend of putting Anti-Britishness behind us, but could Irish pro-Britishness be a bit more discriminating, not simply concentrated on those elements of the neighbouring population symbolised by John Bull and the Lion? In other words, if the Irish government wants to pay homage to the soldiers of the first World War, might it not also initiate a commemoration of the conscientious objectors, and pay some note to the hidden (but heroic) history of the anti-imperalist and anti-war movements in Britain? - Yours, etc. John Arden, Margaretta D'arcy,
