HSE and ‘caring values’

Sir, – The organisation with overall responsibility for healthcare in Ireland paid a consultant to teach staff how to care (“HSE consultants running ‘caring’ seminars for staff paid ¤130,000 last year”, January 16th).

You really couldn’t make this stuff up! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – In the last few years of general austerity and an emergency department crisis, the HSE has seen fit to increase the number of managers paid over €100,000 per year.

How does the HSE justify the appointment of highly paid managers who are, apparently, incapable of managing without expensive external support? – Yours, etc,
