Fruitful walks

Sir, – Now is the season for planting. I call on all county councils to fill the unused corners of public parks with fruit trees and bushes.

Allow us to look forward to the spring blossoms of apple, pear and plum trees, followed by the excitement of the autumn harvest.

In these difficult times, especially for apartment dwellers with no gardens, we need something to look forward to, not to mention providing free organic fruit to people in need.

Nature’s seasonal bounty should be more accessible to all. – Yours, etc,

Co Dublin.
