Sir, - Every cloud has a silver lining, the saying goes. But I suppose that for many people it would take a lot of searching to find such a lining in the current foot-and-mouth crisis. Yet, no matter how small, silver linings are there. The simple pleasure of walking in Dublin's Phoenix park, now free of eyesore clumps of parked cars, convinces me of how true that old saying is, and that maybe serendipity does exist. When this crisis ends, please God, the powers that be might consider banning all parking in the Phoenix Park at weekends. The joy of walking there at present should not be missed, nor the lesson lost. - Yours, etc.,
Oliver Ginty, Floraville Avenue, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
