Dublin half marathon

Sir, – On Saturday my wife and I ran in the Dublin half marathon. Well the running may have been as described, but the getting there and back was the equivalent of climbing Everest. What were the organisers thinking?

Of the eight-hour round-trip, including the run, we spent five of those in our car within a stone’s throw of the event. Motionless. What a disgraceful shambles. Never again. – Yours, etc,

HUGH McDONNELL,

Termonfeckin,

Co Louth.
