Sir, - I agree with Damien Flinter's criticism of the silence from Europe, and Ireland in particular, regarding the US interference in Venezuela (July 17th). Added to Mr Bush's threat to withdraw aid from the people of Bolivia if they do not elect a president approved by the US, it shows America's total disregard for democracy.
Please, please in future spare us calls from the same Mr Bush to abjure violence and support democracy. - Yours, etc.,
