A chara, - Dr Margaret Ward (September 21st) contends that it is ironic that men should oppose abortion, on the grounds that they will never have to go through childbirth, or face the personal consequences of unwanted pregnancy.
If one were to take that point to its logical conclusion, one should never oppose any action unless one is going to experience the consequences of it oneself. Where does that leave me on genocide, ethnic cleansing, capital punishment of the born, cruelty to animals?
Incidentally, I can only presume that, on the law of averages, half of those babies aborted are male. Why then, can men not defend the rights of the unborn without being arbitrarily dismissed on the basis of their gender? - Yours, etc.,
