Sir, - I refer to two recent letters regarding poor cycle lane design on the Stillorgan road and the apparently unimproved Leopardstown road project in Dublin (Brendan Barret, January 4th, and Eamon O'Brien, January 7th.

I would like to commend the town planners, contractors and others involved on the massive two-year project to build two fantastic cycle lanes along the Leopardstown road, a feature that Mr O'Brien apparently missed while he was looking at the impressive granite stone walls.

Commendable too is the fact that these cycle lanes and accompanying footpaths were built at the sacrifice of an extra lane on the road (except for the well-designed "traffic ghost island" to relieve filter traffic to Torquay Road).
