Madam, - It was with astonishment and extreme anger that I learned from your edition of April 21st of the cost of the YES education consultation process.

As principal of a school with disadvantaged status, how can I hope to address the concerns and worries of the parents of seven of our pupils with diagnosed special education needs who have been awaiting the provision of resource support since July 2003?

Two of these children have Asperger's Syndrome and consequently find it extremely difficult to cope with everyday life, let alone the demands of the primary school curriculum. The money earned by three chairpersons for 34 hours' work would have paid an experienced teacher to meet their needs for the present school year.

Our political masters have managed to squander precious funding in attempting to discover what we already knew: YES, many of our children need resource support. - Yours, etc.,
