Sir, – In these stressful times of economic deprivation and constraint, affordable counselling and psychotherapy are more than ever a necessary resource for many.
Thus, we were surprised to read (Ronan McGreevy, Health+Family, April 9th), a suggestion (from MyMind in Cork) that therapy in private practice in Dublin typically costs €80-€100.
Counsellors and psychotherapists in private practice routinely offer a sliding scale of costs to clients in accordance with their financial circumstances. As an established therapy practice in Dublin city centre for over 20 years, our fees for individual and group therapy are significantly less than those stated in the article. Furthermore, like many psychotherapists, our fees are negotiable and depend on each client’s financial ability. – Yours, etc,
