COP21 climate change summit

Sir, – What Enda Kenny fails to understand is that in the context of climate change the loss of 10 years of development is a blessing and something to be thankful for. It means we could start from a marginally better position than we would otherwise be in. The question is whether we will start now. Mr Kenny must know that, as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change points out, the longer we wait to control greenhouse gas emissions, the more difficult and expensive the task will become. This makes the stance he adopted during his address to the climate change summit difficult to understand. – Yours, etc,
