Madam, - I saw the Christmas tree in Brown Thomas's when I had lunch there (as usual) the other day. What a surprise!
But it is not a surprise to find so gratuitous an insult to the Christian religion in present-day Europe. If we cannot rely on the good taste of tradespeople (always in short supply) then we must consider governmental action on such a matter of public concern.
I suggest the Government considers a ban on Christian decorations until the season of Christmas. It is a greater offence to use our Christian faith as a marketing tool than to allow smoking in public places. - Yours, etc,
GERALD MORGAN,
