Carbon taxes are regressive

Sir, – The question is not "How much are you willing to see petrol and diesel prices rise?" (Chris Johns, Business Opinion, April 21st), but "How much can you afford to pay?"

Carbon taxes are regressive: the wealthy can always afford to pay more and therefore to consume and pollute more. What about the others, those who already suffer from fuel poverty?

We have to find solutions, but solutions that leave no one behind. – Yours, etc,
