Sir, – Independent TD John Halligan is to praised for raising the issue of redress by burglars to their victims (Home News, March 1st).
Householders are facing new charges, taxes, etc. Let us give them some support in knowing they will receive compensation from the burglar towards the damage done on their property by burglary.
Eamon Gilmore described the suggestion as pragmatic, let us hope that Minister for Justice Alan Shatter is as quick to respond with legislation. – Yours, etc,
