Brexit and voting systems

A chara, – If Britain had voted in favour of proportional representation in its referendum in 2011, it is highly unlikely it would be in its current mess. The Conservatives offered a Brexit vote and moved further to the right to prevent Ukip splitting the right-wing vote. The Liberal Democrats would also have formed a larger block in the House of Commons and provided a further bulwark against Brexit.

Democracy comes in degrees, and proportional representation is a far superior system. – Yours, etc,
