Madam, – Bravo to Jason Mordaunt for recording (September 22nd) so many of the blunders committed by people who try to impress with fancy words they don’t really understand. Sheridan must be proud that Mrs Malaprop is still alive and clicking.
However, both Mr Mordaunt and the anti-fulsome brigade overlooked the most hurtful thing that Simon Coveney said about the Taoiseach last week – that he sounded totally disinterested. In our political system, a brass-necked government whips one half of parliament and scorns criticism from the other. Against this background, it was positively insulting on Mr Coveney’s part to imply that the boss is impartial or unbiased! – Yours, etc,
