Madam, – Visiting Mullaghmore Strand earlier this week, we encountered a notice to potential bathers warning them that, due to the presence of cattle on the beach, it was impossible for health and safety reasons to provide a lifeguard service.
Could someone in Sligo County Council please enlighten us as to why lifeguards cannot function in the presence of cattle? And if the threat to their health from cattle is so acute, why is the beach nevertheless regarded as safe for use by the public? – Yours, etc,
