Sir, – The Israeli government has just passed a law that any Palestinians convicted of murdering Israeli citizens will face the death penalty.

It is estimated 72,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom were obviously citizens, including men, women and children, have been killed by Israeli forces during their recent attacks on Gaza. How many of those responsible for these deaths will face the death penalty? – Yours, etc,

FINNIAN E MATTHEWS,

Skerries,

Co Dublin.
