Sir, – As I drive around the country for work, I spot so many abandoned petrol stations. Usually followed, nearby, by a shiny new one.
The abandoned stations are often left to rot with the future sale and development of the land often complicated by contaminated soil among other issues.
Would it be so hard to enforce proper dismantling of these unsightly structures as a condition of sale and some form of contribution to cleaning the land for future use?
Maybe a levy on existing petrol stations could help alleviate the inherent costs of abandoned sites. – Yours, etc,
