Sir, – As a loyal (former) listener in Manchester to RTÉ's abandoned longwave service , I found Seán Moran’s article “Getting to grips with challenges of modern media not easy for the GAA” notable (Sport, Analysis, May 3rd). Your columnist lists the problems of broadband availability, the inaccessibility of RTÉ 1 in Northern Ireland, and Age Action’s statistic that “about two-thirds of people over the age of 65 either don’t use the internet, or have below basic skills”. These points resonated, as they are also reasons that RTÉ should postpone the move to shut down the longwave service, and continue with the plan to keep it alive until the DAB alternative is available to us, as they promised. – Yours, etc,
MARGARET GOLDEN,
