Moscow - The final nail in the coffin of Mr Boris Yeltsin's political life has been driven home with the sale at auction of his puppet from the Russian version of the Spitting Image television show.

For years, the former Russian president's puppet appeared on private NTV television, always a bit drunk and highly authoritarian but basically a good guy. The puppet, made in France for $6,000 (£4,800), fetched $26,760 from an opening price of $4,600 at auction in a Moscow restaurant.
