Olga Yegerova was today cleared of the drugs charge that had threatened her particpation in the 5000m at the World Athletics Championship.

A source at the IAAF told AFP that of the 11 tests being carried out for the performance enhancing drug EPO, only one athlete had proved positive - and that was not the Russian star.

Yegerova was one of 11 athletes who had doping tests sent to the IOC approved laboratory in Lausanne after the initial blood test showed irregularities.

The 29-year-old world indoor 3000m champion was due to face Olympic champion Gabriela Szabo, who had threatened to boycott the event if her rival competed while still under suspicion.

Yegorova, who has shown exceptional improvement recently, failed a test for the blood-boosting drug EPO after a meeting in Paris last month.

The IAAF ruled that result illegal on Monday because the French authorities had failed to test her blood as well as her urine.
