Teenage body boarder killed in shark attack in Australia

18-year-old was bitten on legs in second fatal shark attack in country this month

A teenager has been killed by a shark off Australia’s east coast.

It is the second fatal shark attack in Australia this month.

New South Wales state police say the victim is believed to be around 18-years-old.

He was body boarding about 330ft offshore near the northern New South Wales city of Coffs Harbour when he was bitten on the legs.

The teenager’s friends got him back to the beach, where paramedics tried to save him. He was pronounced dead a short time later. His name was not released.

Last Saturday a 35-year-old surfer was fatally mauled by a shark off a beach near the Western Australia community of Gracetown, 270 kilometers south of Perth.

His arm was torn off in the third fatal shark attack off Gracetown in the last 10 years.
