THE Confederation of British Industry and the ICTU in Northern Ireland have issued a publication, Principles on Harmony in the Workplace, aimed at creating non-sectarian working environments.

The principles call for the removal of flags, emblems and graffiti which can cause offence and urge employers and trade unions to discourage workplace intimidation, harassment or discrimination.of all employees is respected", according to the principles.

The CBI and ICTU have called on all employers and unions to adopt the principles. "Working together is the only way forward for everyone in Northern Ireland to obtain our objectives of peace, work and progress," said Mr Frank Bunting, chairman of the ICTU in the North. Mr Bill Tosh, CBI chairman, said the principles made good business sense.
