REFUSE workers in south county Dublin meet this morning to consider new settlement proposals in their dispute over the introduction of a "wheelie bin" system from Monday.

Their union, SIPTU, threatens strike action if the scheme is introduced unilaterally. The Labour Relations Commission may be asked to intervene if a resolution cannot be found at the weekend. The council provides refuse collection services to more than 200,000 people.
