Some 19 community workers from both sides of the Border, who took part in a community education initiative funded by the EU Peace Programme, received their certificates yesterday.

The initiative, which was spearheaded by the Farnham Community Development Group in association with Queen's University, Belfast and Monaghan VEC, was aimed at fostering community development skills for the betterment of communities on both sides of the Border.

Prof George Bain, vice-chancellor of Queen's University, and Mr Larry McCluskey, CEO of Monaghan VEC, presented the certificates at a reception in the Nuremore Hotel, Carrickmacross.
