A construction worker died yesterday after an accident on a Co Mayo building site. The company carrying out the work, Oran Precast Ltd, announced the death last night. In a statement, it named the man as Mr Thomas Farragher (26), from Tuam, Co Galway.
Mr Farragher was said to have sustained his injuries in a fall from a building in Charlestown, Co Mayo. He died shortly afterwards in Mayo General Hospital.
Mr Michael Dillon, general manager of the company, said that the accident occurred at about 1.30 p.m. yesterday. The company had begun an internal inquiry into the accident and the Health and Safety Authority would begin its investigation today.
Mr Farragher had worked for the company since April.
