Ian Woosnam's BellSouth Classic jinx struck again in Atlanta today when he was disqualified for signing for a wrong score.
He signed for a two over par 74 but failed to spot that marker John Huston had put him down for a par four on the 455-yard 17th - where he had taken five.
Last year, Woosnam did not even get to tee off in the $2 million event, the last chance to tune up for the Masters at Augusta.
That time it was his management company's fault. They had forgotten to file an entry in time and at the last minute the Welshman had to go on holiday instead.
The 17th hole today had seen him just miss the green, putt up to five feet and then miss. It was his eighth hole of the day and after bogeying four of his last six holes on the front nine the mistake went unnoticed when he went into the recorder's caravan.
Two hours later a tournament official was called when American Rich Beem, the third member of the group, confirmed Woosnam's bogey five and the search began to find the 1991 Masters champion, who had already left the course.
When they eventually traced him at his hotel he accepted he had signed for the wrong score on the hole and had to be disqualified. "I can't believe it because I checked the scores before I signed the card," he said. "But I definitely took five there and that's it."
