The POD was jammed to its very stylish rafters on Tuesday night for the showcase gig of Manchester band Alicia's Attic. Mercury, their record label, flew in over 20 of its European executives for the night to hear the band's Dublin debut. Despite the rather creepy name, the singing female twosome apparently fall into a new music category known in hip circles as "women's rage bands" also in there are Garbage, Bjork and Alanis Morissette.

And you thought it was just a lot of women strumming away at their guitars singing bad poetry.

Their new single, I Am I Feel, is one of those deeply meaningful songs much loved by teenage girls.

There is such interest in the band (they are being hyped as the next Alanis Morissette) that local music trendies turned out in force, including Denis Desmond, Paul Keogh, Sebastian Clayton, Susie Smyth and artist Guggi.
