Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of an elderly woman’s body at a house in north Dublin last night.

The woman (79) was found by her grandson lying at the bottom of the stairs in her house at Ladycove, Rush, Co Dublin shortly after 7pm.

It is believed she may have been dead for several days.

The body remains at the scene and will be examined shortly by the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.
