A Dublin woman who falsely claimed a newborn baby was concealed in a flat had her sentencing adjourned today due to the lack of a psychiatric report.

Ann Lynch (36), with addresses at Fortlawn Avenue and Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, pleaded guilty last year to two counts of making hoax phone calls on October 28th, 2003.

Gardaí searched around 3,000 homes over three days at an estimated cost of €75,000.

At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today, junior counsel Caroline Biggs, defending, said she was not in a position to have the complete psychiatric report from the Roselawn Clinic in Dublin, where Ms Lynch was attending.

"There was an appointment fixed on May 12 which was missed by Ms Lynch, because she was hospitalised for pneumonia," she said. She said Ms Lynch had been able to attend a more recent appointment on May 26th.

Ms Biggs applied for sentencing to be put back to allow for the completion of the psychiatric report.

After securing the agreement of prosecuting Garda Sgt Martin Drew, Judge Yvonne Murphy remanded Ms Lynch on continuing bail and set the date for her court appearance as July 13th.

The court had been told that Lynch had called gardaí to tell them she was in the Ballymun Towers with a baby who was not breathing.

Her call came a day after another woman had rung to say she had left an abandoned baby in the area. This woman was also arrested, but no charges were brought.
