Woman pedestrian dies in Dublin crash

A woman pedestrian has died  in Dublin after being knocked down by a car being driven by an off-duty garda.

A woman pedestrian has died  in Dublin after being knocked down by a car being driven by an off-duty garda.

The crash took place on the Navan Road at 2.00pm.

The woman was named this evening as Clare Barr (77). She lived on Navan Road.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has started an investigation into the incident.

The Navan Road was closed this afternoon and major traffic disruption was reported. Motorists were being  advised to avoid the area.
