Woman charged in relation to McGovern death in Omagh

Police in Northern Ireland have charged a 21-year-old woman in relation to the death of Jason McGovern in Co Tyrone on New Year’s Eve.

Five other people have already appeared in court in relation to the incident.

The woman was charged with perverting the course of justice yesterday by members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s serious crime branch.

She is due to appear before Omagh Magistrates Court on January 29th.

Mr McGovern (19), originally from Co Monaghan, was assaulted twice while on a night out in Omagh town, and was later found dead at a friend’s house.

It is understood he had suffered a head injury.

Last Saturday four men and a youth appeared before the courts charged with affray.
